Jen
Testimony
When I first met Adrianne, I was listlessly spending 6 hours per week at the gym on both cardio and strength training plus attending a yoga class once per week. I had a bad case of acne, I was dehydrated, and I ate whatever I had time to grab on my way to work or school. I couldn’t get control of my weight, I felt exhausted all the time, and could barely find the energy to ascend a flight of stairs. I had been plagued with shoulder/neck problems since a shoulder dislocation nine years earlier and felt as though I as falling apart at 28.
A few years earlier, I had tried to start running, but could not get past the knee and hip pain. It didn’t matter how hard I pushed myself, I could not improve and every run was just as difficult and unrewarding as the last. At that point, I convinced myself that I was not a runner and that I wasn’t built for that kind of thing.
I gave up on running, but I diligently continued going to the gym and forcing myself through my exercises. Although I had worked with a trainer previously, Adrianne was the first to suggest the possibility that I was overtraining and overstressed. I had never considered the idea that I was pushing myself too hard; not only at the gym, but also in all aspects of my life. When I first met him, I would repeatedly insist that I wasn’t stressed because I was completely unaware of it.
I was so out of touch with my body that during my first session with Adrianne, I became lightheaded and almost fainted. Adrianne just shook his head. I think he knew I was going to be a challenge for him, but he never gave up. Eventually, he helped me to see how stress affected my energy levels and how nutrition could help me to better cope. Adrianne guided me toward finding a sense of balance in my hectic life.
After a lot of hard work, my skin is clear, my neck, shoulder, knees and hips feel great, my workouts are shorter, my weight is under control, and for the first time in my adult life, I can run. I am happy to say that on May 13, 2007, I successfully completed my first 10K run. I say “first” because there will be many more runs in my future. I have lots of energy, I feel comfortable with food and I have finally learned how to recognize stress and its effects on my body. The most important thing I have learned is to listen to my body and to give it the balance it craves between activity and rest, nutritious food and chocolate. Thanks Adrianne for helping me to find the way back to my happy, healthy self!

Adrianne's Thoughts
Jen’s experience is a great example of how important it is to focus your efforts. If you aren’t using the right approach for your body type and your goals, you won’t make progress. The breakthroughs that Jen made were incredible, once she started using the techniques I knew would work for her. The fact that she was willing to work hard and be disciplined made all the difference.
